                                         A Shadowy Past


“Hey, Wake up… Wake up! Jeez.”

Opening my eyes, I found myself face to face with a shadow Charmeleon.

“Jeez, took you long enough to wake up” The Charmeleon grumbled.

“Wha? Where am I?” I looked around confused.

The Charmeleon sighed “Gah, this is why I hate having to deal with pokemon who just became shadow pokemon..."

“Shadow pokemon? What?” I had no clue what this Charmeleon was talking about; I’m not a shadow pokemon… Or… Am I?

I glanced at my paw, noticing my fur was pitch black, instead of the tan it had been last time I had looked.

“I’m a shadow pokemon…? But, when-“ Before I could finish my question, my memories came flooding back; I remembered how my family was killed by a rampaging shadow Pikachu, and how I had tried to save my sister-

“My sister… What happened to her?”

The Charmeleon blinked “Huh? Oh, you mean that little Zigzagoon? The one you let escape? No clue.” He blinked again “Wait, you shouldn’t be able to remember anything from before you were a shadow pokemon… Weird.”

“What about that shadow Pikachu?”

“Oh, him? Haven’t seen him since he reported back…”

I sighed; this Charmeleon obviously couldn’t tell me anything useful.

The Charmeleon blinked once more “Well, We’d best go see what the High General wants; she was the one who sent me to wake you up.”

Nodding, I followed the Charmeleon as he led the way to this ‘High General’.

It’s been two years since I became a shadow pokemon; and not much had changed, it’s the same old thing every day; training, training, and more training; along with picking on random, innocent pokemon.

I still wonder what had become of my sister; she was pretty young when our family was killed, and I turned into a shadow pokemon; it’d be a miracle it she’d survived till now.

And I still haven’t seen anything of the Pikachu that killed my family; although I did hear some rumors about him escaping, which meant that it was possible to escape from this place.

And so, I’ve decided that I’m going to escape; I know that it’ll be hard to do, but I have a plan; I’ll try to go up among the ranks, and hopefully if all goes as planned,
I’ll become a High General, then I won’t have anyone keeping an eye on me 24/7; which will hopefully allow me to escape.

Well, it’s been a few months since I planned my escape.

And its turns out, I’m not the only one zooming up in the ranks; there’s a shadow Zangoose who joined us a few weeks ago, and he’s already a High General.

But this Zangoose, who’s named Kuro, seems to be a bit too strong, even for a shadow pokemon; it’s like he’s completely different pokemon, just in a Zangoose form.

Well, a few weeks later, and I’m finally a High General.

But, it seems that the leader of the shadow pokemon (Whoever he is… I don’t think anyone really knows his name… Not even Kuro, who happens to be the Commander of the shadow pokemon army now) has decided to “Take over the world”; so we’re all off to the Southern Kingdoms.

So there goes my plan of escape. Go figure.

Well, we’re in the Southern Kingdoms, not much going on though, except for preparations for war with the ‘Normal’ pokemon.

But finally something actually happened, I got sent out with a group of other shadow pokemon, to attack one of the local rescue teams, the one known as Team Element.

It wasn’t too long till we got to the team’s base; and as soon as I got close, I thought I picked up a familiar scent, but I pushed the idea out of my head; she couldn’t be here.

But, I was wrong, as soon as we attacked, I noticed the leader of Team Element; a female Linoone.

I stared at her, not believing it was actually her; how could my little sister have survived all these years?

I knew if I didn’t stop the other shadow pokemon, she’d get killed; and I couldn’t let that happen.

As soon as the battle started, I literally flung myself at one of the other shadow pokemon, attacking it with my claws.

It wasn't long till the fight ended, with me as the only shadow pokemon left alive.
The female Linoone stared at me, looking like she was ready to leap at me; but then she relaxed, eyes full of shock.

“Cheetah….?” She whispered as she took a step forward.

“Yes Swift, it’s me.” I started to walk towards her, but was stopped when a Pikachu with odd markings growled at me.

“Bolt, stop that.” Swift said as she turned to the Pikachu “That’s… my brother, Cheetah.”

The Pikachu looked a bit surprised “But, I thought your whole family was killed?”

“Yes, they were, except for me and Cheetah, he had saved me from getting killed, but he got turned into a shadow pokemon…” Swift turned to me, tears filling her eyes, and then she ran over and hugged me.

A bit taken aback, I stuttered a bit “Er, Swift…”

“Oh, Cheetah, I’m so glad to see you!” She hugged me tighter.

“Yeah, I’m glad to see you too.” I said as I hugged her back.

Finally; Everything was back to normal. Well, mostly, there was still the shadow pokemon; but all I care about right now, is being with my sister.
